On Xmas day, you will be able to watch 50 Kisses online, download an MP4 (for your own device) and embed it on any of your websites and blogs.

50 Kisses Success Story from Nick Grills

The other day I was at work doing my boring supermarket job when I looked across to the book section and saw The Guinness Book of World Records 2015. It gave me a surge of excitement to know that I had some small part of page 165.

My script Last Chance was one of those chosen for 50 Kisses and I’m happy to say that it even made it into the finished feature. I attended the premiere, brought my mum along too, and couldn’t help but feel proud when Chris Jones made all the writers stand up and pointed out that, “It all started with you guys.” That moment was better than my graduation; it was recognition in an industry where the writer is mostly invisible.

50 Kisses in the Guinness Book Of Records

I just got my copy of the 2015 Guinness Book Of Records and can confirm that yes, 50 Kisses is listed on the bottom right of page 165 in the movie makers section. We are in very good company sharing the page with Steve Spielberg, Johnny Depp, Tom Cruise, Robert Downey Junior and Stan Lee. How cool is that? You can get your own copy as the book is now on sale.

50 Kisses on London Live with the World Record

As with most media exposure, you get a call, jump in a cab and 30 minutes later you are on TV – and it happened again just now, with 50 Kisses being featured on London Live to help publicise the launch of the new Guinness Book Of World Records today, now in its 60th edition. Great fun!

50 Kisses wins the Rhode Island Film Festival

Great news, 50 Kisses has won the Rhode Island Film Festival in Providence, RI.

Filmmaker Phil Peel and actress Holly Jacobson (from the segment ‘Love’) were there to collect the award on all our behalf’s. We actually created a ‘directors cut’ of 50 Kisses reinstating ‘Love’ for this North American premiere and by all accounts it played extremely well – so well in fact that we won the festival! I am sure more news from Phil and Holly will follow once the land back on planet earth! So a big congratulations to the whole 50 Kisses community for yet another milestone.

Closed Captions and subtitles in 35 degree heat for 50 Kisses

We have been working hard for the last few days creating subtitles / closed captions for VoD platforms. Hannah Mark who is working with us right now has been stuck in a tiny office, diligently working through the film with a program called Subtitle Workshop.

You would think you could just use the scripts, but you can’t do that as so much changes onset, and of course there are no exact timings.

10 Things I gained from from writing 'Nothing Ventured' for 50 Kisses

By Nina Haerland

When I entered the 50 Kisses script competition, I hadn’t written anything for quite a while. I wasn’t even sure if I would again - but when I saw the competition mentioned on Twitter, something sparked. I looked up the details, and came up with “Nothing Ventured” - the story of a florist and the man who loves her. OK, it’s a naff title, but it was how I felt when I wrote it. I sent the script off, made a note of the date of the first cut, and got on with my life.

50 Kisses Review by everyfilm.co.uk

50 KISSES / Cert 15 / 89 mins
BBFC advice: Contains strong language, sex references, violence and bloody images

Overall rating: 8.5/10

I have never seen such an effective collage of short films. 50 Kisses made me jump, laugh and very nearly provoked a tear and yet none of its parts amount to much more than three minutes.

London Film Review gives 50 Kisses 5 stars at LIFF '14 screening

To call the film groundbreaking is (really) something of an understatement, given that it was a crowd sourced film initiated by the London Screen Writers Festival in 2012, and has since entered the Guiness Book of World Records for most co-writers on a film.  After setting up the project (which was created as a non-commercial venture, aiming instead to give filmmakers more exposure), over 1,000 two page scripts were whittled down to just 50...  FULL REVIEW HERE

Sarah Page's mum, came to BAFTA and wrote us a blog

Sarah Page, writer of 'Beryl' and winner of the Audience Award for 50 Kisses, brought her mum to the BAFTA screening. And she wrote us a blog about her experience. Here it is...

At the ‘50 Kisses’ showing at BAFTA Chris Jones asked me to do a blog about the film. I admit I have “blagged” a few times before, but never blogged. My daughter was very sceptical at the time especially when Chris walked away and I told her I didn’t actually know what a blog was. I don’t tweet, twitter or use the face book.

50 Kisses Film Festivals Update: Good news and bad news

So the bad news first. We didn’t get into Cannes. Well that was to be expected as it was really a long shot, but we had to try. Here’s what they mailed us yesterday…

I have the regret to let you know that your film “50 Kisses” has not been selected for the Festival de Cannes 2014. As every year, there are many films submitted and we take so few in regards that we have to make choices. We thank you very much for having submitted the film to the Selection Committee and we wish the film the best success.

But here's the good news...

What I learned producing 50 Kisses by Gail Hackston

I can’t even begin to tell you how much producing 50 Kisses has enriched my life. But I also must tell you how much a pain in the arse it has been too! Like all film projects the buzz of the start quickly fades when you are knee deep in contracts at 2am and find a discrepancy. All in all, a few weeks after the premiere, and knowing 50 Kisses has been submitted to Cannes, I’m feeling pretty damn good about my Executive Producer credit.

50 Kisses ~ The Contest ~ The Feature ~ The Premiere in Houston, Texas by Laura Koons

What an incredible journey for those who made it from script to screen. My own script was not chosen, so why in the world would I want to host a premier? Humbly, I declare I had a lot to learn and 50 Kisses was a great teacher. What the contest allowed for many of us new to the craft was simply an opportunity. There was something uninhibited about it that led many of us to buck up and give it a go.

REVIEW: CHARLIE'S CAHIERS DE London/Exceeding expectations hugely as the Guardian points out

Review by Charlie Wiseman from IMDb

This put it among the top rated films of the week. Is cinema at a Crossroad?Taking a step back for a more controlled step forward, in a crowd funded feature, acting as a catalyst for change? I used to write culture reviews for the Aga Khan appearing in India, Africa and also for the Guardian newspapers. I still enjoy it.

REVIEW: Roses are bled, Violets a strew, how wonderfully refreshing, to see something new!

By Roger Smith from IMDb

The film finished and we were invited by the good shepherd on stage to go to the IMDb page to let the world know what we thought. OK so I have started this review in reverse, so let's go back to the beginning. I'm an American in London and I was asked by a good lady friend of mine if I would like to attend a special film screening as her guest and that was that, oh and just one more thing, I needed to have a dinner jacket.

REVIEW: A sign post for a future wave of film makers and a mile stone in British Cinema...9 out of 10

By Alex Heaton from IMDb

When I first heard of the concept for the 50 Kisses film (50 writers, 50 different production teams making 50 different films about a kiss, mostly taking place on Valentines Day that would form into one feature film) I have to admit I was completely sceptical. How could it work? I decided to set myself a bench mark for it to live up to in terms of entertainment - looking to more mainstream films similar to this concept which have to include the work of Love Actually and the barely tolerable Valentines Day.

50 Kisses Audience Awards Arrive: Reflecting on ‘Beryl’

As we package up the audience awards for 50 Kisses, it has caused me to reflect on the strengths of the winner, ‘Beryl’, written by Sarah Page and made by Capital City.

I'd volunteered to host the Swiss showing, and although I couldn't find a cinema to show the film at relatively short notice, I did manage to find an ideal space to show it, courtesy of Peter Stevens, developer/marketer of the EeBee iPad feedback app.

We figured we could comfortably seat about 30 people and with only a few no shows we were 90% full. Nobody really knew what to expect, but everyone was interested in the idea, and keen to see how it all fitted together.

I was dreading the 50 Kisses Premiere as I was not expecting to enjoy the film...

50 Kisses is amazing! While it could be argued I’m biased, as I a) wrote one of the segments b) got given a shiny award for doing so c) am a huge fan of Chris Jones, Judy Goldberg and the whole London Screenwriters Festival team, I assure you I’m colder than an outside toilet in Frozen, and am speaking purely from an unemotional and clinical perspective – honestly!!

Because of what I’m going to go on to say, I can be perfectly brutal here.  I was not expecting to enjoy 50 Kisses.

Our 50 Kisses journey and one Dream Date at the Valentines premiere

Our script, ‘Dream Date’ was our first ever film script – short or otherwise.  Which is why, when we found out it had been chosen as one of the fifty winners of the 50 Kisses competition, we were surprised and thrilled!

The initial online feedback seemed positive enough, though we were slightly perturbed by the criticism of the positioning/length of our ‘slugs’ (only because we didn’t - and probably still don’t - know exactly what a ‘slug’ is!)

How 50 Kisses has led directly to my first feature film in under 18 months by Andrew T Wright

I produced and directed one of the versions of Kulvinder Gill’s ‘Romantic Hideaway’. Our journey in making this short film, both within and outside of 50 Kisses has been extraordinary and exhilarating to say the least. With two film crews and the male lead bailing out at the eleventh hour and then our two locations being vandalised and burnt out the night before shooting, it seemed as though our film was doomed before it even got started.

I was spent - in every sense of the word after a feature film that I had been working on passionately for several years as the writer/director crashed and burned 3 weeks before shooting was to start in the USA - leaving me broken and broke. Time passed and then I saw Chris Jones' post about 50 Kisses. Interesting concept. Hmmm. No. Even short films are tremendously hard work. Pass. I just couldn't.

50 kisses – The Moment… by screenwriter Stephen Cooper

I still find it crazy that ‘The Moment’ has created so many different opportunities and previews of life ahead. Through this little two minute script and the 50 kisses competition I have seen my idea come to life through a number of fantastic and exciting film makers, I have networked with producers, wrote a pilot for a TV show and received my first paid writer’s credits for this show.

I have spoke to agents and still today get regular emails from different people involved with the different versions of ‘The Moment’.

Get YOUR 50 Kisses Poster Now

The most remarkable thing about 50 Kisses the enormous cast and crew employed during the making of this global movie. The end credits of the movie list around 2,000 creatives and run for 17 minutes – writers, producers, actors, editors, DPs…

And while we couldn’t fit everyone on the poster, we have managed to fit the writers of the 50 scripts, the production companies of the selected films and their key crew as well as cast.

The Final Cinema Version of 50 Kisses Is AMAZING!

This afternoon I headed into Soho to watch the final DCP (Digital Cinema Package) at SDC for ‘50 Kisses’, alongside a journalist friend who writes for, and reviews films, for the broadsheets.

His reaction? ‘50 Kisses significantly exceeded my expectations…’

I won’t say more till reviews begin to appear.

50 Kisses on BBC London with Sunny and Shay

Last night I spent an hour on BBC London with Radio hosts Sunny and Shay, discussing film, music and of course 50 Kisses.

This came right off the back of 50 Kisses Training Day on Saturday. Around 60 filmmakers and writers involved in 50 Kisses, gathered at Ealing Studios to focus on how we, as a collective, can ramp up the press and marketing in the run up to the release on Feb 13th. We will have a full report on Training Day in due course.

50 Kisses: Making The DCP part 2

I have just retuned from a visit to the office of the lovely people at SDC who are making the DCP for 50 Kisses.

I know a great deal more about the process of making one now and plan an extensive blog on the matter post 50 Kisses premiere (as it is so essential for filmmakers to understand).

Writing Love Songs by a Hopeless "Realist"

I wrote the song "Good" while living in NYC, with most of my thoughts and songs ranging from the love-lost scorn to the revengeful strong woman  to the forever young anthem of taking on the world. When I wrote "Good", however, I let myself wonder again about love, just pure, simple, happy love. Nothing perfect, just a simple tale of a romantic meeting and where that could take you.

From London to New York with 50 Kisses

I little expected, when filming Rob Burke’s  LOVE script in the London Underground, that nine months later, I would be on the New York Subway on route to see our film screened at the Tribeca Film centre.

Also our little film, shot guerrilla style in a day and a half, helped in my selection by Creative England for the Edinburgh International Film Festival Talent Lab.

50 Kisses Final Mastering: Making The DCP

To screen 50 Kisses in a cinema, we need to make a DCP.

This is a specific file supplied on an industry standard drive. We could make our own DCP using OpenDCP (low budget and a little risky), but the lovely people at Soho Digital Cinema are helping us out. I have always been in favour of letting professional do the final industry standard mastering to avoid things all going wrong at the very final hurdle.

Small City Canada, Big Screen Premiere

Canada is a large, beautiful country. If you haven’t been I highly suggest you someday pay a visit. When people think about Canada, the cities most likely to pop up in an Internet search are Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver. Though those cities are fantastic, I do not live in any of them. And when I talk about my script RED LIGHT and its success being part of '50 Kisses,' it is the fact that I do not live in a large metropolis that makes me most proud.

Why 50 Kisses has given my music career a boost, by Fuzzy Jones

50 Kisses has given me the boost and confidence I needed to launch my music out into the world of film.

A track I sing on and wrote the lyrics for, 'Swans', is being used in the end credits of 50 Kisses (track below). After having so many doors shut in my face and blank responses to my letters, being chosen to have my song, 'Swans' on the end credits, gave me the confidence to write to Feature Editors like Lisa Gunning.

Help! I can’t make it all the way to the premiere for 50 Kisses!

I get it, for many it’s too far to come to London. While we will miss you on the red carpet, we REALLY want you to stay part of the process.

Do you want to hold your own local premiere on the 13th or 14th of February? It can be small (your living room) or BIG (a local cinema or anywhere with video projection and sound). Heck, why not an open air DIY cinema if you have the weather for it?

Rhys Howell on writing his 50 Kisses script 'Boxes' - interview by Michelle Goode

Your short script, Boxes, saw success in London Screenwriters’ Festival’s 50 Kisses initiative. What inspired you to participate?

I’d been following the London Screenwriters’ Festival on Twitter for a while and had bought myself a ticket for the 2012 festival. I saw that this initiative had come up. I did umm and ahh a bit before entering because I was slightly scared by the 2 page limit. How was I suppose to fit a whole story into that amount of space?

The end titles for 50 Kisses are running at fifteen minutes!

Editor and VFX master Ricky Milling has been working hard on the end credits - and they are running at 15 minutes, complete with clips from films.

It’s been quite a challenge to corral writers and filmmakers into sending their stuff, but I think we have got there. Just a few minor tweaks now and we can do the final export.

'50 Kisses' UK Cinema release strategy and plan...

We now have a fine cut of the movie with around 26 films included. This is still in slight flux for a few reasons, but essentially we are there. The running time is around 90 minutes.

I can confirm that all filmmakers that responded to our request for credits have been credited and a short clip of their film is featured in the end titles.

Dream Date Cannes, Poster and Festival Update

We’ve been very busy with Dream Date over the last few months.

We had this poster designed by talented Kaya Simson using the fantastic photo taken by stills photographer Veronica Trickett. We are really pleased with how it has turned out.

We also took Dream Date to the Cannes Short Film Corner. It was our first Cannes. In the beginning it was incredibly daunting but by the end of our 4 days there we felt like old hands. Petit Majestic was our home away from home!

50 Kisses WILL be released in the Cinema in the UK

Today we reached an exciting agreement with a UK distributor. I am not going to reveal any details just yet, for reasons that will become apparent later, and we will be contacting 50 Kissers over the coming weeks to explain ‘in secret’ what our plan will be.

But… HOORAH! More will follow soon.

What is the REAL value in entering 50 Kisses?

When 50 Kisses offered the opportunity to be included in the making of a feature, and particularly one with a theatre release, I jumped at the chance.

The concept was that Chris called for 2 page scripts loosely based on ‘a kiss’. From over 2000 entries he selected the top 50 and put them on-line for filmmakers to choose from, to make a film.

Near Kisses Script 'A Love Unrivaled' gets produced

A bunch of us (camera students and AmDram actors) have made short film from the Near Kisses: http://www.50kissesfilm.com/near-kisses-2/scripts-1-to-50/a-love-unrivalled-by-carly-godfrey-bridger/

The whole experience was incredibly enlightening and will really benefit my writing in the future.  I realised how much I had tried to cram in two pages! And reading (and watching) some of the scripts that made it in comparison has also been an eye opener.

A Kiss In Cannes by Kulvinder Gill

I always dreamed of going to the Cannes Film Festival, but as I toiled away, year after year, on spec scripts and commissioned (but unproduced) projects, it seemed it would remain a dream rather than a realistic goal. Then came the 50 Kisses competition.

Although to be honest, Cannes was not on the radar when I entered the competition – or even when my screenplay Romantic Hideaway was listed as one of the 50 scripts selected for production.

Creating the 50 Kisses end title sequence

Over the last few days, our fabulous editor Ricky has been wading through what feels like a zillion credits, and has spend days building and rendering in After Effects in order to create the end title sequence for 50 Kisses. To be clear, every one of the winning 50 screenwriters is credited, and every film team that entered a film (and made sure we had their full credits list when we asked for it) will be credited and featured in then end roller.

50 Kisses promo music winner announced…

Earlier this year we ran an initiative to find music tracks for 50 Kisses. Thank you to everyone who entered their songs. We had great fun listening to them, and were quickly able to make a shortlist. The shortlist ended up playing more like the soundtrack to a very cool indie movie than a competition and is something we have playing time and time again in the office. Take a listen! http://www.50kissesfilm.com/music-challenge/.
