First cut: Producers notes for the filmmakers

  • Great, well produced and damn sexy!
  • I’d be tempted to drop ‘enjoy stay’ and ‘we will’ lines. Too on the nose – we can see EXACTLY what is going on.
  • In fact try dropping all dialogue until ‘I have waited so long…’

Love it. Edgy, racey, well shot. Great punch line and twist to the script. I'd say cut before the kiss but that would violate the rules. Instead perhaps cut away briefly to something like the clock since the shot does linger a bit awkwardly.

Like it. Has a sexy feel about it and plays the joke well. Thought the shot of them asleep was even funnier than the kids and grandparents so well done on that. Whole thing works well, maybe just see if you can cut a little at the beginning and in the bedroom to get the runtime slightly down.

This is a very smart piece of filmmaking. In technical terms, I loved the tracking shot at the beginning and loved the lighting and whole, overall texture. Your cinematographer and designer did a first-class job. It has been well-directed, too, and while I guess we'd all do something slightly different in the edit, your choices are all sound. Your performers captured the script, and there was even a fun pay-off. I'm sure we will be hearing more from this talented team. Good luck!

I'd take out the part where they get their keys, I think it'll make it more intense for the characters in getting to their room and the receptionist doesn't sound great.

Absolutely brilliant job, well done! I love everything about it and I'm so glad you flipped the gender on the script. I agree with the producers notes about removing the 'enjoy your stay' and 'we will' lines. Maybe a bit of a trim in several places in the first minute will help make it even tighter. The direction, cinematography, sound, performances, literally everything has come together so well!

I came into this having not read the script and spent the first half feeling a little bit ashamed that such an exploitative story had made it into the final 50... because I thought I knew where it was going. But boy, was I wrong! Really enjoyed this, props to the cinematographer because it really does look great. And that last shot is a blinder. Well done, one of my favourites.

A very high quality work, perfectly played, shot and directed. The music gives it the right rythm and atmosphere without being too present...Great colours, sexy and funny. It's definitely one of my favourite too....
