First cut: Producers notes for the filmmakers

  • Open on ring, it sets the scene and dilemma
  • Trim… do we need to see her take out the cigarette for instance… trim more
  • EQ music so it sounds like a music source and not under scored music
  • Work on foley as it feels acoustically empty
  • Work on the audio mix

nice short. get rid of the lines "i wish the doctors could have saved you". And there's also a bit too much music.

I agree with the Producer's notes on the audio, I know from the script that they are supposed to be sat outside a house party but the soundtrack sounds non-diegetic.

Agreed with Adolf on the removal of the line, it is already stated that he was in some sort of accident. Continuity errors with the lighter, can be fixed by trimming as you said. I don't think that showing him inside the party is nessisary, instead you can show his arival by a change in music levels as he opens the door after they kiss. All around really good, your actors did a great job and the flow of conversation was really well edited and shot. 4/5 from me for sure and a few tweaks to get that last point.

It's a real shame about the continuity with the ring. It switches hands - no doubt cos it was filmed on the wrong hand so the c/u attempts to correct it. Possibly better to reshoot the c/u of the ring on the right hand so it's consistent.

Good film. Looks great. Well acted. Just needs a bit of work of the background sound and foley. I agree with the above comments, doesn't need the line at the end.

Matt's performance is great. The music does not fit though and feel the ending really moves away from the writer's vision.

Agree with sound notes from producer notes, otherwise feels like the beginning of a music vid. Nice, simple short though. Notable work by Darcie
