'Lonely Heart' by Good Shout

(London, UK) First Edit

First cut: Producers notes for the filmmakers

  • Could we get an atmos in the background that sells Armageddon? Gunshots, screams etc. Can dip this out for the romantic bits and bring back in at the end?
  • Poss reshoot on the valentines card, we missed the ‘give you my heart’ the first time – needs to be closer.
  • Zombie eyes, particularly lead zombie – I wonder if anyone with After Effects could have a go at whiting them out? Someone maybe in the community?
  • For the short version, it feels like it wants a metal track for the end credits
  • Personally, we don’t like the vignette at the end, it would be stronger to just cut to black with kicking music – your choice as it’s a personal thing

nice! great cinematography and music, try work a bit on the grading though to make it more gritty. but I like this film.

Great when considering location set and extras involved it was well played out and shot. Yes certain prosthetic and eyes could have improved it, but minor points in grand scheme. Agree cut to black and music track at end. Well done.

Sound piece of filmmaking. I would take issue with the producer notes only int terms of the gunshot atmosphere, I feel this would contradict the well balanced tongue in cheek (or heart in mouth) tone of the film. Humorous and enjoyable

Your film was the first so far that has made me laugh, making me look like and idiot as I am in a library. All said though theres just a couple small changes to be done. The pacing feels slightly off at the start and the hold on the card was for too long. The addition of gunshots and such as mentioned before could help this along though, you will have to use your awesome skill to decide. The camera work was great and the kiss was done flawlessly, I have no idea how your actors kept a straight face while doing that. A dam fine first draft, can't wait to see the next edit!

Think its a great piece of all round film making. Wouldn't change a thing other than maybe adding a bit of background sound as suggested.

Excellent job. Think you've made an awesome film on little money.

Really very good work - liked that a lot. Agree with the suggestions above, mostly, but that's icing on the cake. Wish I could do something half as good.

AMAZING make up! Very convincing actors. I also love your cinematography. The gritty chaos of a zombie mind is fully conveyed. Nicely done!

I really like the tone of this one. Doesn't happen that often that you have to cringe and laugh at the same time. Such charming zombies. I like that we do not have gunshot noises etc in the background, the quietness really appealed to me. I think, though, you're showing the card close-up too long. Out at 0:54 would be enough to read and understand it. Very well done!

The actors do not convince as zombies at all. Especially the blond girl. They act as if they just got hurt after an accident. Make up could also have been better.

Great work, I think this is a very strong film.

The idea from the 'producers' of metal music at the end is stupid and the vignette is cute

    Well done

The best kiss of the competition! Had me howling with laughter. I think this is great stuff, as I knew it could be from reading the script. I wonder whether someone who hasn't read the script would understand the role of the blonde girl, as unfortunately she doesn't look or act much like a zombie would and it may be confusing.
I think, as mentioned, we need to see the text on the card more clearly but also that shot needs to be shortened - at it's current length it feels a bit like there should be a big arrow pointing to it saying 'YOU SHOULD BE READING THIS'.
Also, at 1.48 the shot goes out of focus, which is a small slip but shows up more because of how highly polished every other scene looks.
All in all, a great short. And massive props to your make up artists.

Really liked it, think the suggestion of Armageddon atmosphere is a great idea. Other than that, well done!
