'Proof of Love' by Proof of Love Team

(London, UK) First Edit

I am a London based filmmaker and I chose to direct "Proof of Love" because it is my script for the 50 kisses competition and it was selected for the final round. It was shot on a Canon 5D during a 3-hour night shoot at my film school close to Trafalgar Square.

First cut: Producers notes for the filmmakers

  • Tighten up – the first 30 seconds for example, could be MUCH snappier, no dissolves just cuts
  • Close up of sign at 0:55 is way too wide – use close up (consider starting on that close up too as it sets up the whole gag)
  • Sound needs work, dialogue tracks need work
  • Should be music coming from the club
  • Watch out with your background music being too loud
  • Try a grade too, its all feeling over lit right now

Very cool. Original, fresh, smart, cute script AND film

The pace of the movie was well balanced by the music. Could have been a little up-beat but I guess that would not have sat well with the theme. Loved the twist at the end and facial reactions of the second couple at the door.

I don't agree with Alison; I quite liked the score and thought the pace was well balanced. But I totally agree, the second couple at the door totally did it for me - you can tell that they are not actors - the reaction seems like a natural one. Good casting job!

I really like the quirkiness of the movie. The only thing really is that the dialogue outside is a bit too quiet so just would tweak it so we don't have to struggle to hear what they are saying. I like the pace, helps to show how uneasy they are.

Opening was to long I know its difficult if you dont have a composer and you have to edit to the music. But it does need to be addressed. I loved the females acting so believable. I'm not sure why the ticket lady was so angry. They are outside a nightclub so maybe the music should have been more clubby?

I thought this was very sweet. I liked the guy being shorter than the girl added to the sweetness of the film. Well done.

Some really nice shots, good choice with the 5D! The actors are really cute too, they really make the film. Great, sincere performances.

This is adorablebleble! Well done to all of you.
The ticket lady did seem a bit angrier than expected, but the couple are genuinely sweet.

Great Idea! Needs quicker cuts and better sound to create a crispier feel, try adding recorded atmosphere in parts where you have no dialogue (especially the cut at 1:40 - there is a weird background/machinery noise)
    Well Done
