'SWALK' by The Yeager Road Gang

First Edit

First cut: Producers notes for the filmmakers

  • Too long
  • No foley or atmos
  • Music too dominating
  • Sound needs lots of work
  • The first minute is a guy putting on a jacket – really? Get ruthless.

Feels quite long at the moment and the sound track is a little all over the place. I would suggest maybe cutting him walking round the house a bit and possibly the flashbacks as a photo does pretty much the same thing. Think ig you can tighen it up a bit it will play better but at the moment doesn't really work for me. That said its not my sort of film so hoepfully other people will like it a lot more.

Acting was OK though the guy could looked more grieved and les pleasantly sentimental... the shot of his face on the fridge door reflections goes on too long. Most of it could be half the time... and hte music is a bit like an 80's monotone alarm in places?

I hadn't read the script or seen another version of this film.
By 2mins 30secs my mind had completley wandered off to somewhere else. Then the girl was crying I thought Oh no if the film keeps this up it will be because the man who has already been established as badly shot and edited had a fight and was prepared for the film to go even further downhill.

    AND THEN.
Not bad editing or badly made at all as he's dead!

Quite effective in baiting me then surprising me.

Does it work? Well I would think about making some visual clue all is not what it seems to keep me interested in the early stages. Maybe he could have a more deathly look or colour correction that shows I may be missing something here. Perhaps B/W or a heavenly filter effect. Overall though I think the surprise ending does work. Nicely different.

Let me say thank you to everyone who took the time to watch our short, and even more thanks to all of you who gave us feedback. I have been working on trying to implement changes to help improve on most of what you all mentioned. I will have the re-edit up today hope you all find it more to your liking. I was unable to do re-shoots for this one. I will most definitely be working on sound alot more in future projects. Thanks again
