The Price of Romance by Rachel McAdam Draft 1
Draft One Producers Development Notes for the author
1. We liked this script, thought the idea was original and that it would present a challenge for a filmmaker to make. However, keep in mind that a filmmaker might need to scale down the location from a supermarket to a corner shop, depending on what they can get hold of. Would the story still work?
Have your say, what do you think?

Took me a while to catch on what was going on, but that was probably me being dense to be honest. Particularly this line "Light seeps into SCANNER - so much more than a mere reader
of bar-codes". I got Scanner was one of the Barcode scanners but I originally thought it was so much more light than usual seeping into a barcode reader. Maybe cut the so much more than a mere reader part as that is shown throughout the rest of the script. But as I say that may just be me not being very sharp tonight.
I love the idea and execution though of a love triagle between a scanner, a girl and a guy. I also got a suggestion at the end that Mike had programmed the scanner to woo Tina for him but the sentient feelings of Scanner were an unseen byproduct. That's what I got from Mike's wink anyway. -
